Interview

July 30th, 2004 · Posted by Skuds in Work · No Comments · Work

I had a phone call about a job interview today.

It is with another company in the same group, but in one of the Crawley offices – I am very keen to remove the need to commute into London from my life.

Just before that I saw a pigeon get hit by a taxi. It was left in the middle of the roundabout outside our building, unable to fly or even to walk, and was only able to drag itself along the ground with its wing. I really expected it to get run over, as its a busy road, and nobody wanted to touch it – London pigeons have a bit of a reputation as carriers of every disease under the sun – but somehow it managed to reach the pavement safely.

I came back in and called the RSPCA. They took the details and asked if I could put a box over the bird to keep it safe until they could pick it up. I found a box and managed to get the bird into it, and left that against the front of the building. This might not be a good idea as we are part of Waterloo station, where everyone is warned to report suspicious packages… With that in mind I put a ‘yellow sticky’ on the box saying “do not touch. Bird Inside. RSPCA on the way.”

Its now time for me to leave work, and they haven’t turned up yet. I hope I don’t get here Monday morning and find the box is still there.
