Ringtones

I was looking at Play.com just now, having a look to see what stuff is new (good deal on the Star Wars DVD box set!) and decided to have a look at their Ringtones section.

Maybe its my age, but I still find it hard to get my head around the idea of people paying more than I used to pay for a 7-inch single just to get a few seconds of beeps. Anyway, you can preview the tones on the web site, and I have to say that they are appalling. In most cases you would never guess what the tune is. I reckon they only work with copper-bottomed classic tunes like Smoke On The Water, or the Simpsons theme tune. I would have expected ringtones based on electronic tunes to work well, but their version of Depeche Mode’s Just Can’t Get Enough… lets just say that I can play it on my Yamaha keyboard better than that and I can’t play – but at least you can recognise what I am trying to play with something that simple.

Not a bad day for a bank holiday. I took all the doors off and planed the bottoms. While I was out buying the plane I treated us to the DVD of Battle Royale II and we sat down to watch it as a family tonight. A shame the film was a disappointment compared to the first though. West Ham let me down by losing to Coventry, but Crawley Town did the business and beat Dagenham & Redbridge who were top of the table and unbeaten. Crawley now have 10 points from 5 games and are 7th on the league!
