Its T day

September 18th, 2004 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

Well the new television arrived today. Unfortunately it arrived at about half-past noon and the delivery men had just struggled to get it downstairs to the living room when Mother turned up. Having her and Auntie Joan, plus J and the three kids all in the living room made it impossible to start putting the stand together.

Eventually everyone got the hint and went to socialise in the kitchen and I got the stand put together, but it was then about 2 o’clock and everyone was starving so we went out to eat at the Black Swan in Pease Pottage. (My local but not actually within Crawley, let alone Broadfield) By the time we got back and I put all the cables in the the DVD, VCR and satellite, got the TV onto its stand and all connected up, it was just about time for final football scores (West Ham drew. Crawley lost).

The picture is good but the thing is just so big! I’m sure we will get used to it – I used to think the 28″ one was big when I first got it too – but right now it just seems dominant. The remotes for the amp and the Sky box are now programmed to turn the TV on and off and most of the main features have been played with, but I have yet to watch a whole DVD on it – I just put on a bit of Bugs Life and Matrix to test the picture, and High Fidelity to make sure it would work OK with NTSC films. I did watch a video tape (Jean-Michel Jarre live in London) this evening though. The best thing is that the blacks are actually black.

Another e-mail from PayPal today… identical to yesterday’s. I asked them to try sending something different.
