Police and Thieves

October 2nd, 2004 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

It seems like the local kids have sunk to a new low. This evening somebody broke into the community centre through the fire exit of the main hall. They trashed the kitched, pulling the doors of a locked kitchen cupboard belonging to a pre-school group. Then they broke locks and bolts on doors to get out of the main hall and into the church foyer. They trashed another kitchen, pouring sugar and biscuits all over the floor, and broke the glass in the door to the church.

The police came round and the SOCO spent ages taking prints, but I don’t realy expect that much will be done.

I suppose we could really do with either a burglar alarm, loads of outside lights, a CCTV system, or all three, but as we barely make enough money to keep the place running it is not likely we will find a spare few thousand to do anything like that. We might stretch to a stronger iron bar across the back door.

The doctors’ surgery opposite the community centre is supposed to move at some point in the future, and I am lobbying various people to get the building used as a police station. I reckon thats the only thing that will help.
