Downpours

March 30th, 2005 · Comments Off on Downpours · Life

Well… it looks like I was lucky to get my lawns mowed over the Easter weekend, as it has been pissing down ever since. I was in two minds, as it was still a little bit boggy on Monday, but decided to go for it in the end, and just as well: its now marshland […]

Kraftwerk Live DVD

March 25th, 2005 · Comments Off on Kraftwerk Live DVD · Music

Kraftwerk, in typical fashion, have sort of announced a live DVD of last year’s concerts. All they have on their website is this page. They like to avoid all the typical publicity, so do not provide a release date or anything. I think they ‘announced’ that they were to re-release all their previous albums on […]

Propaganda

March 25th, 2005 · Comments Off on Propaganda · Politics

Yesterday saw more political junk mail delvered to the house. First of all was a letter from Crawley’s village idiot which was just a letter from Henry on one side of A4, with a questionnaire on the reverse. Half the letter seems to be complaining about education, and the other half is crowing about how […]

BNP – Again

March 24th, 2005 · Comments Off on BNP – Again · Politics

I have been reading the little leaflet which the BNP delivered this week. I knew it would be full of poisonous untruths and general bollocks, but even so was amazed by what they are expecting people to believe – and a little dismayed to think that some people will believe it. It starts with the […]

Stabbing

March 24th, 2005 · Comments Off on Stabbing · Life

So. All that police activity was because someone had been stabbed at about 3:30pm – not too long before we went past. It sounds like a nasty business, and obviously something we can do without. About the only good thing about it is that the victim survived and will probably make a full recovery.

BNP

March 23rd, 2005 · Comments Off on BNP · Politics

We had some election material from the BNP shoved through the door tonight. Some parts of it are worrying, because they make some points which might be very seductive on the surface, especially to people who do not realise that BNP candidates never do anything in the rare instances when they are elected, that a […]

Police Activity

March 21st, 2005 · Comments Off on Police Activity · Life

On the way back from the station this evening we saw a lot of Police activity in Broadfield. The first thing we noticed was some blue-and-white Police tape blocking the back alley from Ailsa Close onto Horsham Road. When we went past it, I noticed a policeman standing guard. When we turned up Broadfield Drive […]

Do-It-Yourself

March 20th, 2005 · Comments Off on Do-It-Yourself · Life

The first mild-weathered weekend of the year has seen the expected rash of DIY-ers out in force. (Its hard to believe we were under snow three weeks ago.) The new neighbours next door have been putting up some fencing at the bottom of their garden, and I even managed to motivate myself to get something […]

One Hundred!

March 20th, 2005 · Comments Off on One Hundred! · Life

Well. I am now reviewer No. 100 on Amazon UK. Its a bit precarious, but at least I get to see my name with “Top 100 reviewer” next to it. That’ll do me!

So close…

March 17th, 2005 · Comments Off on So close… · Life

Its a trivial thing, but very frustrating. I looked at my details on Amazon and find that, in the list of top reviewers I am now No 103! When you get in the top 1000 you get a “Top 1000 Reviewer” tag against your name in reviews. Once you get below 500 you get “Top […]
