This post on a local news/gossip site has restored my faith in human nature.
Our latest local hero, Eugene Sully, came second in the recent series of Big Brother. While just about everyone else who was in the show, from the winner right down to whoever got kicked off first is signed up with Max Clifford or someone similar and peddling scandal to the highest bidder, preparing to write cash-in books or knock off a quick appalling single, Eugene is publicising a local council safe driving initiative.
I’m sure there are plenty of opportunities now open to him, but he seems to be taking up those which genuinely interest him regardless of whether a showbiz agent thinks they are the one which will give him a short-term pay-off.
If Tony Blair doesn’t get him to go down the road to Brighton to make an appearance at the conference next month he will have missed a huge opportunity.
