Playing with the camera – 2 At Home

After I had finished bunging all the MSBP photos on a CD for them, I got to playing with the macro feature and the possibilities of the long exposure setting.

This was meant to be a picture of my keyboard, with a blur of typing fingers. It didn’t quite work, but its a start.

This is supposed to be the same thing with a guitar, but it worked even less well.

This was going to be a really impressive picture, but the one time I actually didn’t want the cat to stand still she just stood there. It does work to a certain extent though: there is an invisible quality about her head. I call this one “Schrodinger’ s Cat”

I thought that I could get a good effect with the narrow depth of focus, making one or two strings clear while the rest are blurred. All it really did was remind me that my guitar needs a really thorough dusting.

This was meant to be another one where just a few books were in focus, with the rest blurring away. It really didn’t work at all. Might make a good library shot though. (Sorry. Couldn’t resist the pun there.)

I can’t put off reading the manual too much longer. What puts me off is the fact that it assumes you already know what exposure, aperture, and ISO do on a normal camera. Maybe I should just take a course at Crawley College or join the Crawley Camera Club…
