Unsurprisingly, the kids are all obsessed with what presents they have for Christmas, and I use the word deliberately: they are not just mildly interested, or seeing presents as part of the whole package – they are obsessed.
Its a shame really. Such mercenary single-mindedness does detract from the true meaning of Christmas which , as we all know, is getting ten days off work and only having to use a couple of days off the annual holiday entitlement to do so.
