Prizes galore

Today was when the raffle tickets came home to roost.

Mid-Sussex Body Positive held their Christmas raffle this afternoon. It must have been a marathon session because one of their staff has spent a lot of time calling and writing to just about every organisation you could think of to get donations for prizes.

Personally I dislike raffles with so many prizes that the drawing takes hours but thats just me. Judging by the number of prizes won by us and customers of the pub where our boy works we must have spent a fortune on tickets.

Now we have to work out what we want to do with a signed photo of Gordon Ramsay and a ‘rare’ Julian Clarey script. (Lets see if we can remember how to spell eBay…)

My idea of which prizes are most desirable is not really in tune with the organisers, as the best thing I saw was what Jayne won as the 23rd prize – a pile of CDs donated by Virgin and EMI. Admittedly not stuff I would have bought, but there is are albums by Timo Maas (dance), The Bronx (rock), and Lene Marlin (?) plus singles by Bloc Party (good, but I have both tracks already), Toots & the Maytalls, Katy Rose (whoever she is), Teenage Fanclub (three tracks I don’t have) and Madness (a single and a 5-track sampler from the Dangerman Sessions). Should be a few tracks there to go on the old iRiver.

Not bad for a 23rd prize, especially when the 1st prize was a trip to the speedway. (yawn)
