Damn. Jo tagged me on this. My mind is a bit blank, but I will try…
- Seven things to do before I die
- Seven things I cannot do
- Seven things that attract me to my spouse
- Seven things I say most often
- Seven books (or series) I love
- Seven movies I watch over and over again (or would watch over and over if I had the time)
- Seven people I want to join in, too
Seven things to do before I die
I have been lucky enough to do a lot of the things I might have put on such a list 20 years ago so I am scraping the barrel a bit here
- Sing in public (With a band. Songs I did in plays don’t count)
- Learn to ride a motorbike
- Get fluent in French
- Write a book
- Try skiing
- Get on the news (without dying spectacularly)
- Visit South America
Seven things I cannot do
- Remember names very well
- diet
- Find Absolutely Fabulous funny
- Touch spiders
- Give up smoking
- Tune a guitar by ear
- Shut up
Seven things that attract me to my spouse
At the risk of sounding like a chauvinist
- Loyalty (To me, to the children and to employers)
- Laughing at my jokes
- being supportive even when I want to do something really stupid
- Breasts
- The fact we have not had a serious row. Ever.
- She has the ability to wake me up in the morning which has kept me in employment
- Her energy and inability to do anything by halves
Seven things I say most often
- Who used the toilet last?
- On the other hand
- Did you see in the paper today..
- Its not rocket science!
- I’ll see what I can do
- Wouldn’t it be funny if…
- Take your pick from a selection of swear-words!
Seven books (or series) I love
- Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City
- The Sherlock Holmes stories
- Stephen Jay Gould’s books of essays
- Gödel, Escher, Bach by Douglas R Hofstadter
- E.E. ‘Doc’ Smith’s Lensman series
- Darwin’s Radio by Greg Bear
- Robert Rankin’s Brentford books
Seven movies I watch over and over again (or would watch over and over if I had the time)
- Apocalypse Now
- Fight Club
- The Blues Brothers
- Pulse (Pink Floyd live 1994)
- The Dirty Harry films
- The Man With Two Brains
- Austin Powers
Seven people I want to join in too
I think everyone has done it already. My circle of contacts is not much wider than B4L so this list is purely aspirational.
- Will Self (Reading 49 essays would pass the time. Stephen Fry as substitute)
- George W Bush (I just want to know if he could name 7 books)
- Van Morrison (What does make him tick?)
- Any prominent politician (For the hell of it to see how much they worry about what people might think.)
- Bill Gates (For the first two questions. I want to know what it is that money can’t buy)
- Kevin Smith
- Mrs Nick Griffin (Work it out)
