Damn. Jo tagged me on this. My mind is a bit blank, but I will try…

  1. Seven things to do before I die
  2. Seven things I cannot do
  3. Seven things that attract me to my spouse
  4. Seven things I say most often
  5. Seven books (or series) I love
  6. Seven movies I watch over and over again (or would watch over and over if I had the time)
  7. Seven people I want to join in, too

Seven things to do before I die
I have been lucky enough to do a lot of the things I might have put on such a list 20 years ago so I am scraping the barrel a bit here

  1. Sing in public (With a band. Songs I did in plays don’t count)
  2. Learn to ride a motorbike
  3. Get fluent in French
  4. Write a book
  5. Try skiing
  6. Get on the news (without dying spectacularly)
  7. Visit South America

Seven things I cannot do

  1. Remember names very well
  2. diet
  3. Find Absolutely Fabulous funny
  4. Touch spiders
  5. Give up smoking
  6. Tune a guitar by ear
  7. Shut up

Seven things that attract me to my spouse
At the risk of sounding like a chauvinist

  1. Loyalty (To me, to the children and to employers)
  2. Laughing at my jokes
  3. being supportive even when I want to do something really stupid
  4. Breasts
  5. The fact we have not had a serious row. Ever.
  6. She has the ability to wake me up in the morning which has kept me in employment
  7. Her energy and inability to do anything by halves

Seven things I say most often

  1. Who used the toilet last?
  2. On the other hand
  3. Did you see in the paper today..
  4. Its not rocket science!
  5. I’ll see what I can do
  6. Wouldn’t it be funny if…
  7. Take your pick from a selection of swear-words!

Seven books (or series) I love

  1. Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City
  2. The Sherlock Holmes stories
  3. Stephen Jay Gould’s books of essays
  4. Gödel, Escher, Bach by Douglas R Hofstadter
  5. E.E. ‘Doc’ Smith’s Lensman series
  6. Darwin’s Radio by Greg Bear
  7. Robert Rankin’s Brentford books

Seven movies I watch over and over again (or would watch over and over if I had the time)

  1. Apocalypse Now
  2. Fight Club
  3. The Blues Brothers
  4. Pulse (Pink Floyd live 1994)
  5. The Dirty Harry films
  6. The Man With Two Brains
  7. Austin Powers

Seven people I want to join in too
I think everyone has done it already. My circle of contacts is not much wider than B4L so this list is purely aspirational.

  1. Will Self (Reading 49 essays would pass the time. Stephen Fry as substitute)
  2. George W Bush (I just want to know if he could name 7 books)
  3. Van Morrison (What does make him tick?)
  4. Any prominent politician (For the hell of it to see how much they worry about what people might think.)
  5. Bill Gates (For the first two questions. I want to know what it is that money can’t buy)
  6. Kevin Smith
  7. Mrs Nick Griffin (Work it out)
