Bad quiz day

February 24th, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

I have just been reading this post from Geraldine. Its not what I need to see right now.Jayne and I have to go to a quiz night tomorrow. To make matters worse Jim McGough will be there on another team. He is an absolute mine of trivia, facts and information. We don’t stand a chance. All this is because Jayne is now a parent governor at Manor Green school. She got appointed about a week ago and has already been up there three times wearing her new hat. In the past she has been there volunteering and helping out with exams, fitting it around her job. She does not do things by halves. So now I am roped in to a team of governors for a fund-raising quiz night.I am not a socially gregarious person, so the idea of going to a function where I only know three other people (wife, Jim and Jim’s wife) fills me with dread. I expect I will thoroughly enjoy it, and end up making new friends, but it doesn’t stop me dreading it.

I used to feel the same about all those formal deputy mayor committments. I usually had a great time, and met great people, but very rarely looked forward to them.

Anyway, we had forgotten all about this thing, so are not prepared at all. The best we can hope for is for there to be a lot of questions about punk rock, the novels of Dean Koontz, Richard Laymon and Christopher Brookmyre, Sherlock Holmes, and how to synch files on a iRiver iHP-120 mp3 player.
