Hello to Seamus

February 22nd, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

Seamus was born on 02/03/99 at Monkey World after his mother, Cherri, had removed her birth control implant! Cherri tried to look after Seamus but did not have enough milk and started setting him down to go off and play with the others. Left on his own Seamus could have been hurt by the others. The keepers looked after Seamus for the first year of his life until he was old enough to join the nursery group.

And?

Well, via the Monkey World website we adopted Seamus for the girl’s 14th birthday. We also decorated her room and installed new furniture and everything, but this was a surprise. She is going through a phase of really liking monkeys so this morning we gave her the adoption certificate and membership card which describes her as an adoptive parent. I guess that makes me a grandparent now…

Of course this means we are under huge pressure to go down to Dorset at the weekend to see Seamus in the flesh. We have seen him on TV already. There is some primate programme on one of the natural history channels which features Monkey World quite a lot.

From what I have seen, Seamus appears to be a bit of a trouble maker.
