It looks like our MP is on a roll!
First of all there were the signs of a re-think on the so-called ‘fourth option’ on council housing funding. I know she has been going up to London with the leader of the council to lobby ministers about this – which is only official Labour party policy from two conferences after all.
And now its the smoking ban, which I know she has been pushing for.
I’m quite pleased the vote went for a total ban in the end, although it might make me a bit less likely to go down the pub. Not a huge hardship, admittedly, as I hardly go to the pub anyway, since I realised that I don’t enjoy drinking all that much.
I think that we are likely to see a lot more Continental-style cafe culture with tables out in the street. Even in blizzards and gales!
