Junior Gong

After we finished our canvassing today I went into town to buy a new toilet seat – so at least one seat in Crawley will now be safe.

I tried to avoid walking past HMV at all so I would not be tempted in, but we ended up going that way and I got lured through their door, and what a good job I did as I picked up a couple of bargains.

First of all there was the film Glengarry Glen Ross for only three quid.  I saw some clips of it on a programme about Jack Lemmon the other night and wondered why I had never bothered seeing it. In the CD sale I could not resist Jethro Tull's 'Bursting Out' live album.  My old vinyl copy is still resting in the attic. It is playing in the background now and all sorts of memories are flooding back.

Best of all was the Damian "Junior Gong" Marley CD for only six quid. I don't know why they are selling a brand new album at that price but I am not complaining.  It probably will not appeal to those who just like the Bob Marley hits as it leans more towards the dancehall style, with some tracks very much in the dancehall/rap crossover area that Elephant Man inhabits. Fortunately I do go for dancehall.  As the interview in the papers the other day pointed out, Damian has inherited his father's political nature and this shows through in the music. I found it to be a very strong album, and more original thana lot of recent reggae which endlessly recycles the same rhythm tracks.

Quite possibly the best way to spend six quid in a record shop at the moment, assuming you already have the Gang of Four CDs which are currently in the sale.
