Nationality and football

I went to the public AGM for the Broadfield Community Centre this evening, so I only caught the second half of the Champions League final, where the plucky English underdogs who only had two Englishmen in the team were beaten by the Spanish team with only two Spaniards in the team.

I think there is a conspiracy somewhere. I’m not complaining about the number of foreign players over here, but about the lack of English, or British players overseas. If there are enough foreign players to fill up all the foreign teams and the British ones, then where are we going to find players for the national team?

We will end up having to send youngsters who have never even played a competitive match before off to the World Cup for us, and wouldn’t that be a hoot?
