That Holland v Portugal game made the USA/Italy game look tame, with something like 16 yellow cards and 4 players sent off.
Ugly perhaps, but in the last 5 minutes I was rather hoping Holland would score so we could have another 30 minutes to further whittle down our opponents for next weekend. As it is, Portugal will be without two players, including Deco and for a moment it looked like Figo was going to join him.
It was all good news for England, but objectively it did make for a very scrappy game and the blame lies squarely with a ref who was even worse than the Mexican who was in charge of England v Paraguay. Even Sepp Blatter has said that the ref deserved a yellow card!
Since the staff at our local cafe (The Chunnel Bar in Lower Marsh) are all Portugese, we could be in for an interesting week at work.
