Fame and Fortune (part 3)

August 11th, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Life/Technology · 2 Comments · Life, Technology

First it was a magazine asking to use some of my photos, then it was Amazon asking me to review a book, and now its the BBC asking me if I would like to be interviewed on the radio about political blogging, with reference to the Labour party’s scheme for blogging at this year’s conference.

Its all very Web 2.0

The first ‘opportunity’ came though Flickr, the photo-sharing site/community, the second through Amazon’s interactive elements, and the third through blogs.

In the end I politely declined. The whole Labour conference blogging scheme started while I was away and I don’t really know anything about it, and anyway I can think of loads of Labour bloggers who would be more knowledgeable, interesting and entertaining than me on the subject – so I pointed Radio 5 Live in their direction. (I hope they don’t mind…)

I suppose its a bit contrary for someone who maintains a few web sites to be publicity shy, but thats how it goes.

I can’t see why I would be any more of those things than you.

The others on your list are of course the vanguard of Labour blogging and Five Live would be mad not to talk to all of them.

Such modesty! I believe you to have thought long and hard about how blogs, forums, wikis and other such devices can be used in campaigning, and have quite a bit of technical knowledge to back it up.

That in itself makes you far better qualified than most people to speculate on how things might evolve.
