What I learned today

This building is probably my favourite new building in London, and now that it is nearly complete all the scaffolding has come off and it can be seen properly at last.

Already a couple of floors in the middle look to be occupied, as I can see from the window of my morning train.

It is called the Palestra building and when I walked past today I saw that it is the HQ of the London Development Agency. Eager to find out more, I googled it this evening and learned that it was designed by Will Alsop and is fitted with wind turbines and solar panels.

With its unusual shapes and angles, distinctive reception, profusion of rooftop windmills and brilliant reflections I think this is going to be one of the most photographed buildings outside the central part of London.
