What I learned yesterday

September 28th, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Life/Work · 2 Comments · Life, Work

As we had a briefing for the management team, I learned a lot of things about our financial prospects and expected project milestones which is all confidential to our company or our partners, so I'm not going to repeat it here.

At the same meeting I also learned that the company is, yet again, going to try and sort out the toilet situation in our offices.  The situation is that we have about 7 females working on our floor and anywhere between 20 and 30 males (depending on how many visiting engineers and customers we have) and there is a large female toilets with 3 stalls and a disabled toilet which is used by all the blokes and for which there is always a waiting list.

About 6 months ago there were only 3 females permanently working on the floor and the company suggested swapping so that they would use the single disabled toilets and the large facility would be used by the men, but unbleievably the women complained and even more unbelievably the company changed its mind.

So it is interesting to hear that they are going to 'do something' but I am not holding my breath. (Although I am often holding my breath when I have to go into the gents on a busy day)

ASk them what happens if they employ a disabled female. And what will happen if they don’t employ one because all the rest of the staff would have to practice tantric peeing? I’m sure there are regulations which lay down how many traps are required etc.
On another note, at the music festivals we go to the chemical toilets have signs inside saying that they cease to be hygenic when used by more than 10 people for a 40 hour week….I’m sure they’ve done the maths but we don’t usually pray for a really hot weekend…..

I don’t think it is likely that anyone disabled will be employed. Not if they are in a wheelchair anyway.

They would never get into the building for the interview because of the step on the front door.

    Sad but true.
