This is turning out to be a very bad year for electricity in my house.
First there was the sub-station blowing up on May 4th, leaving us with no power all day, then the saga of the generators to keep us going. There was another outage a few months ago and last week we had a letter saying that the electricity people would be cutting us off tomorrow to do some essential work. It is Jayne’s birthday tomorrow and I am off work. And for all this the prices keep on going up.
On top of that there was the electric shock I got when wiring up Chrystals new light fitting, and then tonight all our sockets went. Jayne went out to a constituency Executive meeting and I had just finished taking advantage of this and wrapped her presents. I settled down to watch the last ‘Extras’ on TV and about 10 minutes from the end everything died.
The circuit breaker which protects the power sockets had tripped. Fortunately the lights were still on. I called the emergency maintenance people who turned up within half an hour (well done Southern Housing) and discovered it was a dodgy plug in the boy’s room. Because it was dodgy on the live wire it was tripping eveything even with the socket turned off.
All sorted just before Jayne got back home.
