Paedophile Lobby?

December 1st, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · 1 Comment · Politics

As soon as I hit the ‘publish’ button on that last post I realised that something struck me as odd in this description of a Polish right-wing website:

The website urged its followers to collect information about “persons engaged in anti-fascist and anti-racist activities, on coloured immigrants, on left-wing activists and sympathisers and on the homosexual and paedophile lobby”, police said.

Do they have a paedophile lobby in Poland? Unlikely I would have thought. A lobby sort of suggests an organised and public group. I would imagine that any group who decided to march in Poland with pro-kiddie-fiddling banners would get the same sort of reaction they would here.

Rather it sounds to me like an attempt to get them mentioned alongside homosexuals (and left-wing activists, etc.) often enough to introduce and re-inforce a suggestion that the two are connected in some way.

Its a bit like the way you hardly see the word ‘immigrant’ without ‘illegal’ in front of it or ‘asylum seeker’ without ‘bogus’ in front of it in BNP literature. The tactic does work to an extent, as the habit gets picked up by the more amenable tabloids, quite possibly unintentionally.

Standard far-right scare tactics I’m afraid and very likely picked up from the BNP who’ve been plying the same kind of paedo-geddon crap for years.

It’s part of their hang ’em and flog ’em routine on criminal justice from their last general election manifesto.

“4. We support the re-introduction of corporal punishment for petty criminals and vandals, and the restoration of capital punishment for paedophiles, terrorists and murderers as an option for judges in cases where their guilt is proven beyond dispute, as by DNA evidence or being caught red-handed.”
