The year in perspective

December 28th, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · No Comments · Politics

Its always interesting to look back on the year as New year’s Eve approaches, and both the Crawley papers have published a review of 2006. The News have done the whole 12 months while the Observer has done the first half and is saving the second half until next week just in case something momentous happens in the next few days.

I enjoyed the Observer’s review of the year. They don’t just set the news agenda they positively upset it… somehow they have decided that having the Tories gain control of the council for the first time in over 30 years is not a major event and will not have a significant impact on the readership so they have not mentioned it at all in the May section.

I don’t particularly like to be reminded of it and I’m not especially happy that it happened, but I don’t deny that it did. Was the sentencing of the bus driver who ran into a house months beforehand really of more importance? I don’t think so, but obviously the Observer does.
