Nostalgia is a weapon wielded by old people to deny young people their dreams
I came across that in the introduction of a book I just started reading, and I am sure it is nowhere near as profound as it sounds, but I like it. It relates to how the 70’s generation were repeatedly told how brilliant the 60’s were to such an extent that half the time we were feeling too inferior about having missed the 60’s party to enjoy our own decade. Something like that anyway.

I did suddenly realise the other day that we were the ‘youth of today’ that people moaned about 20 years ago (maybe 30 in your case…) So maybe Tony Blair had a point in his interview with Andrew Marr on Sunday? (If I’m allowed to say that?)
