Broadway Cafe

On Saturday Jayne and I had a meeting up in London in Victoria Street.  It turned out to be something we could have easily missed as it was a briefing for election agents. Neither of us are election agents but and I think that everything we were told was either something we knew or that we are sure our agent knows about, so it was interesting but not essential.

However, it was an excuse for a day out in London. As we got up to town in good time we went for some breakfast at the Broadway Cafe.  I was not sure if it would be open on a Saturday, but it was, and it was a little bit embarrassing.

I used to work opposite the cafe and went in for breakfast on most Thursdays. It was a sort of routine. I would have a leisurely breakfast while scanning the technology section of the Guardian, especially the IT jobs – there seemed to be more IT jobs in it back then.

That all stopped when I moved to an office off the Edgware Road at least ten years ago, and I have not been back since, but when we went in the lady who runs the place recognised me, saying "hello, we haven't seen you for quite a while" which Jayne thought was highly amusing.

Anyone would think I used to go in every day and not just once a week.  I am just relieved I was not asked if I would like the usual.

(Mental note. Must remember not to take Jayne to the Chunnel Bar in Lower Marsh!)
