Old operating systems

April 24th, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Technology · 2 Comments · Technology

Having already paid tribute to the mighty Sinclair Spectrum this week, I had another trip down memory lane this evening.

I was looking the all-singing, all-dancing statistics available to me with the new hosts to see what was in there and found the bit where it tells you what operating systems are used by visitors to this site.

Most visits (46%) come from “unknown” which could well be search engine bots and similar. Unsurprisingly Windows dominates the list with XP at the top (35%). The only surprises there were to see how many people are still using Win 95, 98, Me and that there were visits from someone running ‘codename Longhorn’.

Down at the bottom of the list was the real shock – 4 visits from machines running OS/2 and 7 from machines running C/PM! That takes me back. Fond memories of the PIP command.

Are there still functioning computers running C/PM surfing the net or has some humorous anorak managed to get their modern computer to represent itself as an antique?
