West Ham finally clawed their way out of the relegation places today with a 3-1 win over Bolton and are now only behind Chelsea and Man Utd for current form with 6 wins from the last 8 games.

I feel rotten about wishing for bad things to happen to Fulham and Charlton – both teams I quite like – but in this situation you don’t care who goes down as long as its not you, so I was praying for Liverpool to score this afternoon, but Fulham managed to save their skins by beating Liverpool anyway so now we are just hoping to stay above Wigan and Charlton.

If we beat Man Utd we stay up whatever happens. That is plan A.

If we manage a draw we stay above Wigan. If they manage to beat Sheffield then we would be above Sheffield too. Charlton could overtake us but would have to beat Tottenham and Liverpool to do that. So if we don’t lose our last game the only way we can go down is for Charlton to win two in a row which they have only done once this season. Mind you, that was recently under Pardew. That is plan B – it leaves us depending on Charlton not winning twice, but they are not bad odds.

If we lose to Man Utd we could still survive if Charlton do not win twice and Wigan lose against Sheffield. The Charlton bit is not too bad but Wigan could still manage a win. But if Wigan beat Sheffield by 3 more goals than Man Utd beat us we could scrape through on goals scored.

Weighing it all up, I think we need to win at Old Trafford. Can Curbishley do the double over Ferguson?

The way we played today its not totally unbelievable. I may be a little biased, but Noble’s goal was surely the best goal all day.
