I am looking forward to tomorrow.  I am going up to London on the train.

While it was a pain in the neck to have to travel up there every day to work for years, it should be different doing it for pleasure.  Some ex-colleagues from London Underground are having a joint birthday celebration in the evening with some drinks near Waterloo.

Instead of just going up for that I thought I would make a day of it and have some breakfast at the cafe near my previous job, catch up with some ex-colleagues from there and then do some sightseeing before getting back to the pub.

I think that Trafalgar Square is currently turfed over for some publicity stunt, so I will make sure I go to see that, and while I am there it will be hard to resist going into the National Gallery for a bit, but I might venture out to places I could never reach during my old lunch hours – maybe even the V&A which I have never been inside.

I can also keep my eye out for opportunities to take some pictures for the Guess Where London group.

We always try to grab a spot of culture when we go to London – Rob had a squint at the National Portrait Gallery to get rid of his hangover after seeing Rogers Waters the other weekend and we did get to the National Maritime Museum at Easter (meant to go to the Cutty Sark but it had just been closed for renovation…) – but we still haven’t been to the V & A. Not really a frock person (Reggie) but I understand there is a lot more to it than Kylie’s hotpants.

So much more! When I got home I checked their website and found tons of stuff I wish I had seen while I was there. The architectural models sound like they would justify a visit alone.
