Moffat on a roll

June 18th, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Life · 3 Comments · Life

This evening I took advantage of Virgin Media’s catchily-titled ‘catch up on demand’ feature and watched yesterday’s first episode of the new drama series Jeckyll.

I wasn’t expecting too much from it, but it started strongly and then when “written by Steven Moffat” appeared on the opening credits I suspected it was going to be very good. Moffat has written some of the best episodes of the new Dr Who series (The Empty Child, The Girl in the Fireplace and best of all, Blink.)

The only problem was that every time Dr Jackman picked up a phone I assumed he was calling Yellow Pages, but that should wear off as the series continues.

Hee hee hee, I didn’t have the Yellow Pages thought but now you mention it…

I was very impressed at the subtle physical way they embodied Hyde: a tighter narrower fitting suit, skin almost looking as if it has been stetched across his face, the hair different… very effective given the Esau-like obsessions of previous incarnations.

It’s written by Steven Moffat? Brilliant! I only added it to record on a whim, but now can’t wait to get home and watch it :-)

Those adverts do kind of stick in your mind. It is a great series however.
