Smug

August 20th, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Life · 6 Comments · Life

Its our wedding anniversary tomorrow and I am feeling very smug about it. Not because we have been married for 6 years without even a serious argument, not because we get on so well and not because I am so happy with life – although all those are true.

This year I remembered the day before and was able to take the bus into town and pick up an appropriate present (iron or sugar for a 6th anniversary I think) instead of having a last-minute, late-night dash to get whatever I could find in a petrol station or 24-hour supermarket.

Not only that, but Jayne has been so wrapped up this weekend with getting training for mentoring youth offenders that she had not remembered. This is as close as a bloke can get to total smugness!

Be careful! Smugness can bite you in the bum very quickly – there are so many things for husbands to forget :)

Not to mention the things that you can do wrong – without us being able to explain why you are wrong…..

Being wrong is my default position at home. Saves time.

Sorry, but I think that posting on to the internet Jayne missed getting you a present would be more than enough to remove all of the brownie points you have earned by buying a present early.

    D’oh!

To be fair, she did remember before the day, and more than compensated by giving me the new Christopher Brookmyre book.

Andy’s Mum – I’m sure I will find some way to get back in the doghouse where I belong. If you see no posts on here at all after Oct 20th it will mean I forgot her 40th birthday and have moved out of the house and into a shallow grave in Tilgate Park.

See, there’s a big mistake, Skuds. You wouldn’t have forgot her 40th – you would have forgot her 39th – rookie mistake :)
