UAF at the Mela

August 1st, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · 4 Comments · Politics

The Wealden UAF had a stall at the Crawley Mela over the weekend, shared with the Crawley Campaign Against Racism and the Crawley Interfaith Network. The intention for the UAF was to raise awareness of this new organisation and maybe increase membership.

Unfortunately I was out of town at the time, so I missed it all. I don’t know how successful it was at increasing membership, but going by the photos in this week’s Crawley Observer it certainly raised awareness. I lost count of the number of UNITE badges and stickers you could see being worn.

    Except Cllr Crow apparently !

I’m sure he will make up for it by joining up. Only £5 (or £2 for unwaged). Membership forms will be available as soon as we get a PO Box sorted out!

Certainly from the photos that I’ve seen posted here earlier, it seems to have been a somewhat politiced event. A bit like the 1934 Olympics ..
It didn’t look half as good as the rumbustuous folk festival that preceded it at same venue; plenty of vigourous British folk dancing AND a real ale beer tent . :->
