Crawley drops down the table

November 19th, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

Last year Crawley could ‘boast’ the 3rd and 6th most violent streets in Sussex, but this year it can only manage the 11th and 20th most violent streets, while the most violent of the lot is… Terminus Rd in Eastbourne. All according to this story in the Argus.

The league table is based on violent offences between March and July of this year.

Crawley’s mean streets are the High Street and London Road. The High Street is, of course, where most of the Town Centre pubs are. The exact locations of all the violent crimes are not given but I strongly suspect that the violent crimes on London Road were not near Comet, or Jordans, or even by the barbers shop, but all pretty close to Brannigans.

Linda Fulbrook, Oxfam manager at the Terminus Road store, said violent crime was not a problem for her outlet but that shoplifting was.

Could the main reason for this be that the Oxfam shop is not open at night when the pubs are chucking out? Just a thought.
