Moving in mysterious ways

November 10th, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Life · 4 Comments · Life

On the way up to Herts today we were overtaken on the M25 by God, who obviously fancies himself as part of Torchwood.

I was disappointed that I didn’t get the camera out of the glovie in time when a car with the number plate “BOB” (or 8 O) went passed, but this compensated for it somewhat.

Not a bad journey compared to recent experiences: 1hr 45mins to travel the 100 miles up there and 2hrs to get back. An average speed of 57mph to get there might seem bad, but last month it took aslong as both those times combined just to get up there.

On the way back we heard a report on the radio news about the possibility of increased penalties for speeding drivers. Normally I might be a bit disinterested in that, but for two things. Firstly, we were doing 80mph ourselves, which is a bit naughty, and secondly at that very moment we were overtaken on the inside by a car going so fast it made our (substantial and fully-loaded) car rock as it went past. The total nimrod driving it cut right in front of us, barely missing two cars and then cut back across two lanes of traffic so he (I am assuming it was a he) could use the hard shoulder to get past all the other traffic.

Never has it been more true that there is not a policeman around when you want one. Whenever I see this sort of behaviour I am genuinely surprised because I work on the assumption that it is not a one-off and wonder how they have managed to escape a fatal collision so far, let alone a ban. I was left feeling that 6 points was not nearly enough but I suspect that doing at least 20mph more than the prevailing traffic would go straight into the realms of dangerous driving even at 40mph.

Thanx for the observation my driving skills Skuds. It’s a bit naughty using your camera whilst driving – on a motorway, eh? a bit like using a mobile phone..
S’alright, we’ll know where to find you.

God wouldn’t drive a Range Rover surely? Is the fiery chariot in for the MOT parhaps?

If you read the blog as closely as you think you do Nimrod you would know that Skuds is almost certainly in the passenger seat – nothing illegal in that numbnuts.

Oh I do hope that first comment is an implied threat because we also know exactly where to find Nimrod and would be more than happy to point the Surrey constabulary in that direction and tell them which particular stone to look under.
