I was a little bit worried, reading a letter in the Guardian this week, that I may have set up Wordpress to automatically nuke any comments containing the word “socialism”. I have a ‘blacklist’ of words and any comment containing them goes in the bin. The list is of words which crop up a lot in spam but are not likely to be in real comments – levitra, viagra, casino, xanax, tamiflu and so on.
What I had not realised was that the word ’socialist’ contains the word ‘cialis’ which is another viagra-type drug which a lot of spam is trying to flog. Fortunately it is also a word I forgot to add to the blacklist so everything is OK.

I just cleared out my banned list – cialis was there!
To be honest, I have not had any spam at all since I installed the security code captcha thingy.
It is working so well I never bothered installing Bad Behavior on this server and have not even activated Spam Karma.
I am thinking about removing the banned word list completely as its now redundant.
