An easy mistake?

Hats off to Tom Watson for pointing this out!  It appears that his local (Tory) MEPs have a bit of trouble recognising their own constituency.

Their website shows a nice photo of the Birmingham skyline.  Unfortunately the buildings in it are remarkably similar to those in downtown Birmingham, Alabama…   Tom has some links, but just in case the Tories wake up and correct their mistake, here are a couple of screenshots for posterity.1

  1. I’ll be honest – I haven’t been to Brum for ages and I wouldn’t have noticed, but then I don’t claim to represent the place []

I can confirm as a regular visitor to the UK’s second city that a picture of the city would look very different to one of Alabama’s Brum. The fairly distinctive Bullring shopping centre and/or the GPO tower would be a better bet.

Ms Danivon had a few choice words for the Tory muppets who represent the city of her birth.

Thing is, this story has an eerie feeling of deja vu to me, so I wonder if they’ve not only messed the picture up, but not even noticed that it’s been wrong for some time…
