Its a start

Team Labour managed to improve on last month’s runners-up prize and won by a significant margin in Horsham tonight.  At the Broadbridge Heath village hall quiz night…

It was fortunate that the question about American football was related to the only player I could name who isn’t called OJ Simpson ((Dan Marino)) and even more fortunate that one round was entirely about saying what lines different Lo9ndon Underground stations are on.

When we swapped answer sheets for marking I overheard a comment from the next table along the lines of “bloody hell. Have they got a train driver on their team?” as they marked our answers.  No – just someone who worked for LU for 6 years and then worked for one of their suppliers for a further 6 years 🙂

I have to say though, we were worried about the neighbouring team.  There were only three of them and they were all too young to drink alcohol but in the first four rounds they were impressive: I was amazed by how much they knew and was cursing this evidence of the effectiveness of our education system.  Fortunately their curriculum didn’t cover music – at least not artists like David Gates and Bread, Living in a Box, Sade, and Billy Idol so we were able to surge ahead on the music and tube station rounds.

Have to keep an eye on them for the future though.  If all else fails we will have to  try and persuade them to join the party.

We had a good evening socialising and ended up with a cash prize which will  go into the party funds and go towards printing some leaflets for us to start delivering.  Not bad for a Tuesday.
