Rip-off, homage or co-incidence?

Something is bothering me about the current advert for Direct Line home insurance. There is slow-motion film of water cascading over furniture and a soundtrack with lots of cymbals and organ under-pinned by a strong bass. Isn’t it just a bit reminiscent of the exploding house scene in Antonioni’s Zabriskie Point?

OK, so its water and not an explosion, but its still slow-motion destruction and music in the style of early 70s Pink Floyd. Is it a rip-off, an homage or just a plain co-incidence?

Well Skuds, it appears quite a few people have noticed it and I imagine it is a homage to Zabriski point and Pink Floyd’s Track,

    ‘Careful with that axe,Eugene’!

Whether Direct Line have payed for the right to use it is anyones guess, I’m sure we’ll find out!
