I really enjoyed watching the Liverpool/Arsenal game the other night. I had been out at a Unite Against Fascism meeting and only caught the last 15 minutes but I was disturbing the rest of the family in the next room with all my shouts of disbelief.
Truly Steven Gerrard has balls of steel the way he calmly took that penalty under those circumstances, but the biggest shout was for Arsenal’s last goal when Walcott took on all comers as he herded the ball from one end of the pitch to the other before setting up an easy shot and I remembered that we had him sitting on the bench without being used all the way through the last World Cup.
It was like that bit at the end of Bullseye where Jim Bowen would say to the failed contestants “Look at at would you could have won”
