White van humour for the 21st century

April 21st, 2008 · Comments Off on White van humour for the 21st century · Life

Its a tradition, or an old charter, or something, that white vans and lorries have to have the slogan “I wish my wife was this dirty” written in their dirt with a finger.   The one exception to this was a van I saw in London once with the disturbing variation “I wish my nan was […]

End of the holidays

April 20th, 2008 · Comments Off on End of the holidays · Life

The school holidays are over now, not that it makes much difference to me because I don’t work in a school, but the rest of the house have been off for two weeks.  Last week they all went off camping, leaving me to my own devices for a while.  I had a couple of evenings […]

BNP Rattled?

April 17th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Politics

This evening somebody told me that, following the UAF’s visits to Bewbush, Ifield, West Green and Ifield West over the weekend to try and increase voter turnout at the elections, the BNP held a little protest at the Ifield shops.

Run the red light

April 16th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Politics

This game must be old news, but I only stumbled across it this evening.  Great fun, but quite difficult, and nearly as good as the knife-throwing game.  Basically, you have to control ‘Dangerous Dave’ Cameron on his bike.

The video election

April 16th, 2008 · Comments Off on The video election · Politics

This week the Crawley Observer interviewed the three party leaders in town and have put video of all three interviews on their website.  Its an interesting idea, carried out with some of the most mind-numbingly boring video footage seen.

April 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Politics

The quick answer is “No. Not officially” but its a bit more complicated than that.  Crawley may well qualify to be a Fairtrade town but so far it has not had that official accreditation.  There is now a concerted effort to get that accreditation

Are you in Brighton?

April 14th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Politics

I know I have a few readers from Brighton, several of whom I have met and jolly nice people they are too.  Anyway, this is a message aimed right at the Brighton-dwelling, left-leaning, sorts.

The Jewish BNP vote

April 13th, 2008 · 38 Comments · Politics

When I saw this story in the paper the other day I really had to check it was April 10th and not April 1st, although anybody who tried to make it up as an April fool’s joke would have a pretty warped sense of humour.  Apparently the BNP are  now actively chasing the Jewish vote […]

Do not swallow

April 13th, 2008 · Comments Off on Do not swallow · Politics

This morning I was out with some UAF colleagues, handing out leaflets and talking to voters at local shopping parades in Crawley.  So far most of those involved are also involved in political parties which doesn’t really work, because any anti-BNP campaignign we do is time we could have spent campaigning for our own parties.  […]
