I had a feeling that the Haltemprice and Howden by-election was going to be a bit of a circus, so news that there will be 26 candidates was not a total surprise.   In spite of that, it will still be fairer, more democratic and generally better in every respect than an election with only one candidate.

Go guys – only a 5000 or so majority to sort out… Although the ‘National Front Britain for the British’ candidate is surely just the BNP in drag – no more than I expected.
I have a vain hope that the Green Party will do well – in the current climate (no pun intended, honest) maybe we should be catching up with Europe and electing a few real Greens rather than letting our current MPs repeat the information they have been fed by their eco-advisors…
