Rhododendron bashing

July 18th, 2008 · Posted by Skuds in Life · 2 Comments · Life

Ian Irvine is offering the prospect of rhodendron bashing for anyone who wants to become a friend of Broadfield Park.   If I can get assurances that bashing the rhododendron is not an alternative for bashing the bishop I might join up.  As I was passing through on the way home the other day I noticed how shabby the ornamental tree tunnel was looking.  The middle of it is now completely full of stinging nettles: I have never seen it that bad before.

This is what it looked a like just over a year ago, in April 2007.  I’ll see if I can pack a camera and get an up-to-date view of it.

Ian got me to help the Friends of Goff Park a couple of years ago, and we got rid of a load of stuff in a couple of hours. It’s hard work, but worth it.

Is the tunnel really that bad? As Mr Mike would ask, who is responsible, and what have the local councillors being doing about it?

It is that bad. I’ll post the two photos together.
