Driving home from a visit to the old folks today (Hi Mum!) I heard a tasty track played on the radio that had all the hallmarks of vintage Metallica – and it was indeed a new Metallica single at 19 in the charts. It almost made up for the dreadful congestion.

One downside of going out today was that I did not get to see the football results until way after the final whistle, and missed seeing the highlights on Match of the Day, on the day that the Hammers finally came up with a decent result in the league and annihilated Paul Ince’s Blackburn Rovers.
