Soul Seven

August 20th, 2008 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

It was seven years ago today that Jayne and I tied the knot: seven years of wedded bliss and general goodness.

It just goes to show that a good marriage is more important than a big wedding.  Back in 2001 I had just started a new, well-paid job after many months of temping and couldn’t really get time off until at least September, but we did not want to wait until then.  I ended up taking the Monday off to get married and was back in work on Tuesday.

We did not want a fuss, and kept the date secret so that neither family would be able to turn up.  It was just us, plus our neighbour and her boyfriend as witnesses.  After that the four of us had a dinner and then went up to Tilgate Park to take some photos and we ended up in the pub there.

Hardly an auspicious start, but it seems to have worked.  We had both been married before and had big weddings followed by short, crap marriages.  I prefer it this way.
