Three Times Enough

August 27th, 2008 · Posted by Skuds in Life · 2 Comments · Life

Horsham Labour Party’s elite quiz team ((i.e. whoever happens to turn up)) made it a hat-trick this evening when we won the pub quiz in the village hall for the third time this year.  While the prize money is handy for party funds, I do feel guilty that we keep winning.  I think we should volunteer to set the questions next time and give the others a chance…  Anyway, there was a large round on the recent Olympics, where we reaped the benefit of my sitting through the women’s high jump finals.

Actually, that was one of my favourite bits of the whole games.  The women high-jumpers seem like a different species: so tall and slender, with that strange stepping run-up, they are like a superior race of graceful beings.  I was cheering Tia Hellebaut on for no better reasons than feeling that Belgium was due a gold medal and deciding that Hellebaut was dead cool taking part wearing her glasses.  Suffice to say that I was quite pleased to find a question that depended on knowing the winner of that event.

And Hellebaut looks as if it sounds a lot like Halle Bop. Still one of our favourite things to say. All our local quizes seem to be in pubs so we can’t use them for fundraising (unless we barter the beer vouchers for poster-printing etc!)

Ah but sometimes the prizes can be bottles of wine that can be used as raffle prizes somewhere.

I suspect you would drink them thought 😉
