Sailing On The Seven Seas

October 26th, 2008 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · 5 Comments · Politics

I have been to Corfu on holiday a total of four times.  I would happily go back again, in fact Jayne and I have thought it would be a decent place to retire to.  Here is a little secret about the place that I will happily pass on to the likes of Osborne and Mandelson: there is a lot to do and a lot to see without having to resort to freeloading on billionaires’ yachts.

The list of things to do that are preferable to hob-nobbing with oligarchs is endless and includes:

  • Renting a little hatchback and exploring the winding roads in the hills
  • Enjoying a coffee while looking out over the cricket ground in Corfu town
  • Going out to the beach where the scenes for James Bond were filmed
  • Climbing over the rocks at Sidari
  • Taking a day trip on a boat to Paxos with other (paying) travellers

Well if Osborne tries to dish dirt then the likelihood is he will get dirty too. It is funny the spat!!! Even funnier was Hessletine on PM stating that it was not a “Luxury yacht” and that it was many that you can just hop on and off during the summer….Oh I just don’t move in the correct circles. Rumour has it that Cllr Mulder has bought a canoe. Well you have to start somewhere!!

Either that or the canoeing councillor is planning to disappear….

Heseltine was not quite right. It’s classed as a ‘Super Yacht’ because of it’s size and spec. I’m sure that there were plenty for grasping politicians to hop on and off of if they knew about them (and yet it’s only a certain kind of politician that does know about them, innit?)

And if they can stomach some of the stuff they actually say then seasickness won’t be too much of a problem…
