I don’t know if Skuds has noticed this but whenever I am involved in a Friends of the Earth day of action, as I was today, the weather is always awful. In April, when we were campaigning on including aviation and shipping emissions in the UK targets, it snowed; in the summer, when we were helping the Huddersfield group campaign against European Biofuels targets, we got drenched; today, signing people up to remind the government of the commitments they made to renewable energy, we had drizzle and a biting wind. Next time we are campaigning indoors!
On the plus side we were able to speak quite passionately about wind-energy. The only problem we really had is that we have not yet found a way to extract energy from persistent drizzle – we’d certainly have the UK’s energy problems licked!
