Having watched the end of the footie, I started watching the US election coverage on ITV. That did not last long. As soon as Alastair Stewart mentioned the “Mason-Dixie line” the second time my inner pedant reached for the remote and switched to the BBC, where immediately Dimbleby refered to “North Hampshire”.
I can live with that. Amongst the pressures of live broadcasting, reading off a list of abbreviated state names, it is easy to slip with “N Hampshire” but to get Mason Dixon line wrong twice makes you think that Mr Stewart really does think it is called “Mason Dixie”.
Maybe I should have gone to bed early… I am getting grumpy already.
