Making Your Mind Up

The Rev John Stanton gets about a bit doesn’t he?  According to the Times he appears on the infamous BNP members list, but before that he had been a local party chairman of the Green party, had spent four years as a Lib Dem councillor, five years as a Tory and before joining the BNP he spent some time in UKIP.  Must be some kind of record.

I think this was the scariest bit of the article you linked to

‘A spokesman for the Green Party claimed today that Mr Bessant was in the BNP not because he was a racist but because he felt they had better environmental policies.’

I would really hope that the Green Party actually does have better environmental policies – they certainly seem to be less politically aware than the BNP!

I couldn’t work out why the Green party spokesman was so defensive of their ex-member and so defensive of the BNP.

It also illustrates the danger of single-issue politics in a way. Could you get so hung up on one policy that you would accept all the others, however bad they were?

By the way, I do not know off-hand what the BNP’s environmental policies are, but I bet that they do sound good, like many of their policies do – because they just say what they think people want to hear, without having to worry about whether it is practical, affordable, compatible with other policies or even possible.

I think they confuse policies with aspirations.

The best climate change policies take into account the fact that the worst sufferers of climate change are communities in Africa and South Asia. Wonder what they have to say on that?

Quote; ”I do not know off-hand what the BNP’s environmental policies are, but I bet that they do sound good, like many of their policies do.. ” You mean that you’ve not read any of BNP’s policies ? You surprise us !! ..We were beginning to wonder whether you may defect from Nu Labour’s sinking ship and join the BNP…..
Deducing that your tags for this post are initials of Political parties, we’ve never heard of the WTF.
