Demolition Time

January 26th, 2009 · Posted by Skuds in Life · 1 Comment · Life

If you live in a mid-terrace house, and wake to find the house next door is being demolished it cannot be much fun, and you have to wonder just how much more brazen developers can get.

On the other hand, you have to worry a bit about the neighbours when they can say “The safety of my family was compromised as well as the structure of my home” and yet stayed inside the house filming the demolition instead of legging it out and filming from the street.

Got to agree with the bloke though: it would be justice to make the builders rebuild the house as it was before it was knocked down.  Very educational though: I never realised there was a Newcastle in Northern Ireland.

I like the little details. The fact that the father of the family was originally from Kent is obviously the key reason why they had to film the demolition.
The building was a bit of an eyesore before the demolition though – all boarded up and a lovely shade of battleship gray – so I hope they don’t make them rebuild it exactly the same…
