The Skudmobile in happier days

On Friday afternoon I got the phone call I had been half-expecting: the insurance company called to say that my car is not worth repairing.

A shame really.  With the very few miles I actually need to drive it is hardly worth having a car, but I got used to having this. Now I just have to wait and see how much they think it was worth, and after hearing friends’ insurance valuation tales that is a call I am really not looking forward to.  The chances are that I will not even get back the £800 I had to spend on servicing in the last two years.

I am guessing I will not get enough to buy a similar car, which to my mind rather defeats the purpose of insurance.    The other challenge will be trying to retrieve the stereo from it.  Not that I have anything to put it in, but its the principle – it was a Christmas present from the Mrs.

Good luck! My insurance offered me half the value but I’m contesting that. Never accept the first quote! They’ll offer you the lower end so buy AutoTrader and cut out ads for similar vehicles. And then buy a punching bag or stress ball!
