I have been far too content lately. I think its time for a moan. I don’t know why I am so chipper: the election results were not good – personally I lost heavily (not unexpected) and the Labour party got almost wiped out to the extent that our share of the number of councillors in the country is now nearly as low as the Tory share back in 1996. Maybe its because its summer or something?
To redress the balance, there are a few things I want to gripe about:
- People who beat me to the username ‘Skuds’ on various websites and then don’t even use them.
When I signed up to Twitter so I could follow realnickgriffin I found Skuds had already been taken. When Facebook allowed you to choose a page name I found that Skuds was already taken. It is even worse when the person who got to the name first isn’t even really using it for anything. It was the same with the skuds.com domain name. - Streets with inaccurate names
That means “XXX Avenue” when there are no trees in it, “XXX Mews” when there are no stables in it, and “XXX Meadows” or “XXX Lea” when those features are patently absent. - Delays at the dentist
They tell you they will charge for missed bookings or if you turn up more than 10 minutes late, so you make sure to get there on time, or even a bit early – and you are always greeted with “he’s running a bit late” and eventually get seen 30 minutes after the appointed time.
That’ll do me for now. What winds you up? (Apart from me, that is)

Buses that advertise an “average of every 10 minutes” service and then it’s 20 minutes before two of them turn up……. It may be an accurate statement but it’s designed to mislead…..:-((

I am generally peeved by people who can’t have a good moan without expecting you to agree with them wholeheartedly. They end up telling you how they think you are feeling (e.g. on any day when temperature is less than 28degrees C and you don’t have a coat on I do not agree with the statement ‘you must be freezing’ since, if I were, I would put a coat on wouldn’t I?) The worst are those who expect you to agree with their sweeping rascist rants but trite statements about the weather are much more common…
